Rutgers Graduate School of Education, and the Center for Literacy Development have partnered with the New Jersey Department of Education to launch the

Reading Acceleration Professional Integrated Development

(RAPID) Plus Initiative to support and bolster literacy in upper elementary grades 4, 5, and 6 in

Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, and Somerset counties.

RAPID Plus Initiative

What does RAPID Plus mean?

RAPID is the Reading Acceleration Professionally Integrated Development (RAPID) Plus Initiative issued by the New Jersey Department of Education. The initiative provides free professional development to teachers and administrators throughout the 21 counties in New Jersey.  Rutgers Graduate School of Education and the Center for Literacy Development will be serving Educators in Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, and Somerset Counties. 

What is the focus of this initiative?

This initiative will include an Educator Series consisting of 4 one-hour professional development sessions for teachers and one District & School Leader 180-minute webinar for school and district leaders and literacy specialists. 

Who should attend?

This initiative is open to ALL educators in New Jersey who work with students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades however, Rutgers Graduate School of Education and the Center for Literacy Development have been assigned to work with educators in Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, & Somerset Counties.

How are the sessions and webinars being offered?

The Educators Sessions are being offered both virtually and in person while the Administrator Webinar will only be offered virtually. 

Will I receive professional development hours for attending?

YES! Educators who complete all four (4) Educator sessions will receive a certificate for up to four (4) hours of professional development. Administrators who complete the 180-minute Webinar will receive a certificate for up to three (3) hours of professional development.

What is the cost to attend?

The Educator Sessions and Administrator Webinar are being offered free of charge! 

How do I register?

Visit the Educator Series or Administrator Webinar page for the schedules and registration links. Registration will remain open until 48 hours before the scheduled session/webinar. You will receive a confirmation email.
